WHERE WILL MY SESSION TAKE PLACE?
We can meet online using video conferencing or we can meet in my Brentwood office (once the social distancing order has been removed).
HOW MUCH DO SESSIONS COST?
Sessions cost $125 and last 50 minutes. We will meet on the same day and time every week. Sessions can be longer, if needed, and billed at a pro-rated rate. I can offer a sliding scale fee for clients who are going through financial hardship.
WHAT PAYMENT TYPES DO YOU ACCEPT? WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?
Payments are made on my website through a monthly subscription plan. I offer weekly, bi-weekly and monthly sessions (for those who are looking to exit therapy) I do not directly bill insurance, but I do offer documents for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I request payment on the first of every month online via credit card.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL/RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT?
Cancellations/rescheduling needs to be made 24 hours before your appointment time otherwise you will be charged. That means if your appointment is at 10 am Thursday, I need to be notified by text or email by 10 am Wednesday. If you are receiving a special monthly rate due to financial hardship you will still be charged in order to keep your place in therapy, unless the office is closed.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I'M RUNNING LATE?
I will hold the time I have reserved for you, but we will end at your same scheduled time.
DISSPELLING THE MYTHS OF THERAPY
Beginning therapy can be anxiety-provoking for some people. It is understandable that you might be nervous and apprehensive about the process. It is important to dispel the myth that going to counseling is for weak people who can’t solve their own problems. Quite the contrary, the strongest and most intelligent people go to therapy. Why? Because if you have the opportunity to learn the best ways to communicate with your spouse, raise your children and have a successful career - wouldn’t you take it?
MY PARTNER ISN'T SURE ABOUT THE IDEA OF COUPLES THERAPY
If your partner is nervous about the process please encourage them to address them when we meet. Couples therapy only works when both parties are invested in the process. A lot of people believe that going into couples counseling means that the couple is headed towards a divorce, which again is a myth. Did you know that pre-marital counseling is so effective that the state of Tennessee actually gives you a discount on your marriage license if you attend sessions?
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?
Your first appointment will be an intake, like an informal interview. I will collect information about your personal history, therapeutic goals and answer your questions regarding the therapeutic process. Together we will create a treatment plan. Our second session will be actual therapy. If you are coming to couple’s counseling, after the couple’s intake, I will conduct individual intakes with each person and then on the 4th session start actual couple’s counseling.
HOW LONG WILL THERAPY LAST?
This depends entirely on the individual and the issues he/she would like to work through. Therapy can last from three months to many years.
DO YOU OFFER VIDEO CONFERENCING ONLINE OR PHONE SESSIONS?
Yes. If you are away from home and do not want to miss a session, I can offer sessions through the Simple Practice video conferencing platform or phone. This is a service I offer only to clients who are residents of the state of Tennessee.
I'M READY TO GET STARTED. NOW WHAT?
